ABOUT THE ARTIST

His works include:

* Portrait of former MD Governor Marvin Mandel, which hangs in the MD Senate; 

* Portrait of John Geiger, former National Commander of the American Legion and President of United Airlines; 

* Chosen five times as Artist of the Year for the Grand National Waterfowl Hunt Club;

* Commissioned by the Babe Ruth Museum, Baltimore, Maryland to complete original rendering of the “Sultan of Swat”, entitled, Babe’s Babes. This painting hangs in the Cooperstown, New York Baseball Hall of Fame; 

* Commissioned by Tom Brown, Former Green Bay Packer great and two time Super Bowl Champion for a portrait of Vince Lombardi, entitled The Seven Faces of Vince Lombardi. Brown was a baseball player for the Washington Senators; 

* Original painting completed for the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame Museum, entitled A Tradition of Excellence, presently hanging in Oriole Park at Camden Yards;

*Commissioned portrait of former Baltimore Oriole great, Eddie Murray, honoring him for his induction into the 500-Career Home Run Club; 

* Commissioned oil painting for the Duke University Men’s Division I Basketball Team, as the won the Back to Back National Championships in 1991 and 1992; 

* Commissioned portrait of the “The Splendid Splinter” Ted Williams, for the Ted Williams Baseball Hall of Fame in Hernando, Florida;

* Commissioned portrait of “The Earnhardt Legacy” of NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt;

* Painting of University of Maryland Men’s Division I Basketball Team celebrating the 2002 National Championship

*Commissioned portrait of Hall of Famer Harold Baines of the Chicago White Sox;

* Commissioned portrait of Harriet Tubman for the Harriet Tubman Museum in Church Creek, MD; 

* Commissioned portrait of NFL Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas; 

* Commissioned portrait of Frederick Douglass, hanging in Ford’s Theater in Washington, DC;

George has also completed numerous private commissions of senatorial and corporate board members. Amongst hundreds of private or public commissions, George Wright is proud to say not one has ever been condemned.
